Dr. Kendall is a registered architect and holds a PhD in Design Theory and Methods from MIT. His career in architectural practice, research and education spans more than 35 years. His research focuses on the Open Building approach, needed to make buildings more adaptable, easier to customize to meet changing preferences and thus more sustainable. Stephen is author of more than 50 papers, co-author of Residential Open Building (Routledge) and editor of Healthcare Architecture as Infrastructure: Open Building in Practice (Routledge).

 

Ir. Robert van Ieperen is partner at Fakton Capital, which collaborates with (international) investors, banks and developers on transactions for area and real estate developments. Fakton embraces the donut principles of Kate Raworth and the Sustainable Development Goals as an integral framework for a sustainable world, a sustainable society and sustainable developments and interventions. Robert is part of the research group “The Business Model for Open Building”.

 

Ir. Frans van der Werf is architect and urban planner. Frans graduated in the seventies on his award winning project: ‘Housing in a Linear City’, in which he anticipated Open Building ideas. He participated in the planning of Evry, a new town near Paris. He designed social housing, city centers, care centers and urban design schemes. In his book ‘Open Ontwerpen’ (Open Design) he discusses his professional experiences with innovations in Open Building projects.
